Session 3: Project Sustainability: How Can Solar Best Support Nature Conservation and Biodiversity?

With the right project development, solar and biodiversity can go hand in hand. This session brings together National Solar Associations and solar Utilities to share best practice. Policymakers and NGOs will join the conversation to cover wider project sustainability opportunities and challenges, from the identification of suitable project sites, to Environmental Assessments and solar’s role in ecosystem protection and restoration. The session will also launch SolarPower Europe’s biodiversity project that focuses on EU-wide environmental regulations and its role in solar. It also aims at assessing suitable land for solar and the potential impacts of such project developments. Lasty, the report provides best practice examples on nature-positive solar sites.
